What We Build

Decks first, and everything that finishes them

Four of the six things below are decks. That is deliberate. Deck building is what we do every week, and the rest exists to make the deck work harder.

Deck Materials

The four board lines we install, compared honestly

We have been a certified installer of maintenance-free decking for over 10 years. Here is the real difference between the lines, including the warranty terms straight from each manufacturer.

Still not sure which board? That is normal, and it is the whole point of the free consultation. We bring samples, and we will tell you when the cheaper line is the right answer.

Why Homeowners Pick Us

Three things we put in writing

Anyone can say they do good work. These are the commitments we will hold ourselves to on your project.

A clear, concise process

From the first call to the final walkthrough, every step is planned and scheduled. You always know what happens next and who is coming.

Work that beats the renderings

Clients tell us the finished deck reads sharper than the drawings. To some it is just a deck. To us every one is a chance to build something worth photographing.

We make it right

Custom work is human work, and occasionally something goes sideways. What separates builders is how that gets handled. We fix it, and we do not argue about it.

Built for Florida

A deck in Tampa is a different build

Sun load, afternoon storms, salt air near the bay, and termites are hard on an outdoor structure. Detailing that is fine in a dry climate fails here in a few seasons, which is why we moved to maintenance-free board lines over 10 years ago and have not looked back.

We frame for moisture, flash and fasten every connection with coated and stainless hardware, and pull the permits so the build passes inspection and holds up long after the crew leaves.

  • Permitted and inspected to Florida code
  • Moisture-ready framing and hardware
  • Heat-mitigating boards for full-sun pool decks
  • Termite-proof composite and PVC options

How It Works

The next steps in your deck building process

From the first call to the final walkthrough, everything is planned and executed in the same order every time. No guessing where the project stands.

01

Free in-home consultation

We come to you, walk the space, take measurements and photos, and get clear on what you actually want out of the backyard.

02

Fixed-price estimate

Tell us your must-haves and your ceiling. Our pricing is fixed, so the number you approve is the number you pay. Most quotes go back within a week.

03

Planning & design

We finalize the layout, board line, color, railing, and lighting together. Nothing gets ordered until you are genuinely excited about the design.

04

Build & walkthrough

Permits pulled, crew scheduled, site kept clean, and a final walkthrough where we hand over the manufacturer warranty paperwork.

Owner and Lead Designer

This is where the owner story goes: how long you have been building decks, what you did before Tampa Deck Builder, why you moved to maintenance-free board lines, and the one thing you will not compromise on. Two or three short paragraphs, written in your own voice, next to a real photo of you on a job site.

It is the highest-value block on the page. Homeowners about to spend five figures want to know who is accountable, and Google now weighs a named, credentialed person heavily when it decides which local contractor to trust. Almost none of your Tampa competitors have one.

  • Florida contractor license number and class

  • Years in the trade

FAQ

Questions Tampa homeowners actually ask

Straight answers, including the ones about cost and permits that most contractor sites avoid.

Still have a question?

You get the person who will actually design your deck, not a call center.

How much does a new deck cost in Tampa?
It depends on size, height off the ground, board line, and railing, so we do not publish a per-square-foot number that we would have to walk back. What we do commit to is fixed pricing: after the free in-home consultation you get one number, and that is the number you pay. Most estimates go back within a week of the visit.
Composite or wood: which is better in the Florida climate?
For most Tampa homeowners, capped composite or PVC. Our humidity, afternoon storms, UV load, and termites are exactly what wood struggles with, and a composite board will not rot, warp, splinter, or feed insects. Real wood is still the right answer when you want genuine grain and are willing to keep up a finish schedule. We build both and will tell you honestly which one fits your backyard.
Which decking brands do you install?
We are a certified, experienced installer of Trex, TimberTech, AZEK, and Fiberon, and we have been installing maintenance-free decking for over 10 years. Warranties run from 25 years to lifetime limited depending on the line. We will walk you through the real differences rather than steering you to whatever is in the yard.
Do decks in Tampa need a permit?
Usually yes. Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa have their own thresholds based on height, size, and attachment to the house, and pool-area and screen-enclosure work adds requirements. We pull the permits and handle inspections as part of the job, so it is not something you have to chase.
How hot does composite decking get around a pool?
That depends heavily on the line and the color. Several manufacturers make heat-mitigating boards specifically engineered to absorb less heat, and lighter colors run cooler than dark ones. For a full-sun Tampa pool deck we steer you to those lines and colors on purpose, because a beautiful deck nobody can stand on barefoot in July is a failed deck.
How long does a deck build take?
Once the design is locked and materials are in, most residential decks are a matter of days on site, not months. The bigger variables are permit turnaround and board availability in your chosen color. We give you the real schedule at the estimate, including where the waiting happens.
